Mission Statement
The Well Alternative is dedicated to helping parolee’s continue turning their lives around and direct them in a positive manner. It is with a genuine desire that we provide these men with education, individual counseling and vocational training; to promote a lasting lifestyle change, free from the addiction of alcohol and drugs.
Program Description
1. All applicants shall be screened prior to admittance to determine if “The Well Alternative’s” treatment methods and availabilities meet the specific needs of the client.
2. An environment that is drug and alcohol free is the starting point from which these men can build a strong and lasting foundation to change their lives.
3. An assessment of the client’s addiction and treatment plan shall be devised by the program case manager. When concerns arise regarding medications or assault-like behaviors, the Program Administrator will complete the assessment and be involved with the related treatment plan.
4. Appropriate group sessions, video’s, counseling and outside AA or NA meetings will become part of the treatment plan. In addition, voluntary Bible studies will be made available along with nightly ministering by guest Pastors from the local area.
5. Another main ingredient of each client’s treatment plan is Vocational Training. There are many different venues such as: landscaping, painting, construction, restaurant and office work to aid in acquiring the skills necessary in their job search.
6. Anger management, relationship skills, budgeting and problem solving are a few of the counseling topics to aid the client in their changing life and recovery.
7. Each individual assessment would determine each of the areas necessary to their recovery and the level of treatment.
Vocational Training
While in The Well Alternative’s 6-month Treatment Program, men have the opportunity to learn a trade that they will be able to use when they graduate. This serves two purposes:
1. Builds self esteem, and a sense of accomplishment in the area of work ethics.
2. The opportunity to provide for themselves and their families upon graduation from the program.
The areas available for Vocational Training are:
• Painting
• Landscaping
• General Construction
• Auto Detailing
• Auto Repair
• Auto Sales
• Restaurant
• Laundry

Our goal for the men we train is that they will be able to acquire gainful employment at one of many businesses that have partnered with The Well Alternative. 2612 ESPLANADE, CHICO, CA 95973 ~ 530.624.5431
